This week's drawing (#7) is a weekend in Minneapolis. It's a short visit I sometimes take on my way home from visiting mom. The gallery wall is a nod to my favorite room at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, a collection of portraits from the Myron Kunin Collection. I've attempted to include a few of my favorite paintings from their collection by queer modernists: Beauford Delaney, Pavel Tchelitchew, and Marsden Hartley. They have a wonderful Bernard Perlin I couldn't quite master. Edmund Lewandowski is there too because there's nothing more Midwestern than a giant, steel transmission tower. I will forever have a love affair with those structures.
P.S. Only Ugly Guys is a play I attended not a comment on men from MSP.
